梅原義幸は、風景や現象、静物と対峙した際、その接触点にふと現れる「顔」の存在を追求しています。それは物固有の形でも、私の中に固定された幻想でもなく、対象と私という二つの存在が響き合う瞬間にのみ立ち現れる気配のようなものです。
「物に見つめられる」という感覚や、空間から受け取る微かな触発。それらがなぜ私の目に「顔」として映るのか。制作を通じ、物と私との間に結ばれる不可思議な関係性を深く見つめています。

「物と私の存在」
ふと風景や物、雨や風などの現象を見た時、私はたびたび顔を思い浮かべることがあります。その顔は物固有にこれを見たらこういう顔であると存在する物でもなく、イマジナリーフレンドのような私自身の中に固定して存在する顔でもありません。物の存在と私という存在の間、接触点に存在するものです。
物に見つめられる感覚、物や空間から気配を感じ取ること、そしてそれらに触発され私が私に見せられている顔。それは一体何故なのか。
物と私の関係について私は考えます。

Yoshiyuki Umehara explores the presence of a “face” that suddenly appears at the point of contact when he confronts landscapes, phenomena, or still lifes. It is neither the inherent form of the object nor a fixed illusion within me, but rather a kind of aura that emerges only in the moment when the subject and I resonate with one another.
The sensation of “being gazed at by an object” and the subtle inspiration received from a space—why do these appear to my eyes as “faces”? Through his work, he deeply examines the mysterious relationship that forms between the object and himself.

“Objects and My Existence”
When I happen to look at a landscape, an object, or natural phenomena like rain or wind, I often find myself picturing a face. This face is not one that exists inherently within the object—as if the object were to say, “This is the face you see when you look at me”—nor is it a face fixed within myself, like an imaginary friend. It exists at the point of contact between the object’s existence and my own.
The sensation of being gazed at by an object, sensing an aura emanating from objects or spaces, and the face that is revealed to me—inspired by these things. Why is this so?
I reflect on the relationship between objects and myself.

Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1997
Graduated from the Department of Painting (Oil Painting Major), Faculty of Fine Arts, Tama Art University in 2020
Currently based in Tokyo
