仏教思想の「空（Ku）」に着想を得て、陶を主な素材とした作品を制作している。あらゆる物事が相互に関係しながら絶えず変化していく世界のあり方に着目し、人間の生死という限られた時間軸を超えて続く自然の循環や、関係のなかで生まれる存在のあり方を探究している。

Inspired by the Buddhist concept of Ku (Emptiness), Yukiko Shinkai creates works primarily using ceramics. Focusing on a world in which all things are interconnected and constantly changing, her practice explores the cycles of nature that continue beyond the limited timespan of human life and death, as well as ways of being that emerge through relationships.
