京都出身。330年続く、京都の茶陶の窯元に生まれる。佐賀での修行の後、2005年より自身の工房「SpringShowStudio」にて独特の技法での陶板画制作をはじめる。その後、デザイナーとして平面の構成・グラフィックデザインに携わり、他業種の経験をもとにプロダクトの可能性を探求。2009年10月自身のスタジオを法人化、同年ブランド「SIONE(シオネ)」を立ち上げる。全国で多数の企画展を開催し、2011年より海外で本格的に展開。2016年に銀閣寺の旅館をリノベーションし、工房とカフェを併設したショップをスタート。同年LEXUS NEW TAKUMI PROJECTの京都代表に選出され、プロジェクトに参加。プロダクトデザイン、ブランディングや茶会などを通じて、現代に添ったもてなしの文化を創造している。

SHOWKO was born in Kyoto to a family of potters that had, for six generations, produced Makuzu porcelain wares for use in tea ceremony. In 2005, she herself embarked on the path of a ceramic drawing artist. In 2009, she established SIONE as a brand that emphasizes warm hospitality based on the concept of the happiness that can be found in everyday life. While linking the pottery techniques of both regions, SIONE ceramics are neither Arita porcelain nor Kyoto porcelain; rather, they are works of porcelain art that, while Made in Japan, are meant for the whole world to enjoy.
