幼少期から続けてきたストリートダンスの経験は、私の美的感覚と身体感覚の基盤となっています。ダンスを踊るときに感じる、音楽の世界へ入り込むような没入感や、リズムと身体が呼応して生まれる躍動感は、現在の絵画制作にも深く影響しています。私は、そうした身体的な感覚や時間の流れを、絵画という静止したメディアの中でどのように表現できるのかを探求しています。

制作プロセスは、HIPHOPにおけるサンプリングの手法から着想を得ています。一度描いた絵画を切り裂き、ミシンで即興的に再構築することで、異なる視覚的要素を組み合わせ、新たなイメージを生み出します。この方法は、既存の音源を引用しながら新しい文脈を生み出すサンプリングや、その場の感覚に応答するダンスやラップの即興性とも重なっています。偶然性を積極的に受け入れることで、自らの意図だけでは到達できない表現を引き出しています。

私がストリートカルチャーに惹かれる理由は、その背景にある、困難やネガティブな経験を創造性へと転換し、新たな価値を生み出してきた精神性にあります。描いた絵を切り裂くという一見破壊的な行為も、私にとっては作品を否定することではなく、新たな表現を生み出すための始まりです。破壊と再構築を繰り返す制作を通じて、身体性やリズムを内包した絵画表現を探求し、ダンスと絵画が交差する新たな表現の可能性を模索しています。

My experience of street dance, which I have practised since childhood, forms the foundation of my aesthetic sensibility and physical awareness. The sense of immersion—as if stepping into the world of the music—that I feel when dancing, and the dynamism born of the interplay between rhythm and the body, profoundly influence my current painting practice. I am exploring how I can express these physical sensations and the passage of time within the static medium of painting.

My creative process draws inspiration from the technique of sampling in hip-hop. By cutting up a finished painting and improvisationally reconstructing it with a sewing machine, I combine different visual elements to create new images. This method parallels the practice of sampling—which creates new contexts by referencing existing sound sources—as well as the improvisational nature of dance and rap, which respond to the sensations of the moment. By actively embracing chance, I elicit forms of expression that I could not achieve through my own intentions alone.

The reason I am drawn to street culture lies in the underlying spirit that has transformed hardship and negative experiences into creativity, thereby generating new value. The act of cutting up a painting—which at first glance may seem destructive—is not, for me, a negation of the work, but rather the beginning of creating a new form of expression. Through a creative process that involves repeated cycles of destruction and reconstruction, I explore a form of painterly expression that incorporates physicality and rhythm, whilst seeking out new possibilities for expression where dance and painting intersect.
