プロダンサーとしての経歴を持ち、身体と空間の関わりを探究するために渡英。ロンドン芸術大学セントラル・セント・マーチンズで舞台芸術を学び、ロンドン大学ゴールドスミス・カレッジで哲学を修め、ロイヤルカレッジ・オブ・アートの情報体験デザイン修士を首席卒。ロンドンバタシー公園にて野外パブリック彫刻を設置。 哲学・民俗学的なアプローチから音・光・空気といった自然現象のエネルギーの可視化、テクノロジーとアイデンティティ・身体の関係性をテーマにインスタレーション・立体・映像など様々なメディアで表現する。Victoria and Albert Museumを初め世界各地でパフォーマーとしても活動。日本とイギリスを拠点。

Makiko is a multifaceted artist rooted in Nagano, Japan’s breathtaking nature, with bases in both Japan and the UK. Originating as a professional dancer, she ventured to the UK to explore the intricate relationship between the body and space. She honed her craft at Central Saint Martins, studied philosophy at Goldsmiths, and graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Art’s Information Experience Design program. Through diverse mediums – from installations to visual arts – Makiko’s creations provoke contemplation on identity. Her works illuminate the convergence of tradition and innovation, bridging the nuances of East and West, and melding technology with human sensibility.
