私は、他者によって切り取られたイメージや言葉を起点に、世界をどのように認識しているのかを考えながら絵画を制作しています。SNSや映画、漫画、広告など、私たちが日常で目にするものの多くは、誰かの視点や編集を経た断片であると思っています。私はそれらを収集し、ドローイングを重ねながら、異なる場所や時間に存在していたイメージを再構成し、絵画を作っています。
近年は特に映画字幕に関心を寄せています。字幕は、映像や音、俳優の身体、文化的背景といった複雑な経験を限られた言葉へと翻訳するものであり、その過程では必然的に、言葉へ置き換えきれないものや余白が生まれます。私は、そのずれを欠落ではなく、新たな想像や解釈が生まれる契機として捉えています。字幕を起点に生まれたイメージや言葉は、ドローイングを経て組み替えられ、最終的に一枚の絵画へと展開されます。
私たちは世界を直接受け取っているようでいて、実際には誰かの視点や解釈を経た断片を通して世界と接続しています。私はそうした不一致やずれを手がかりに、固定された見方を少しずつひらき、鑑賞者それぞれの経験や記憶から新たな物語や関係性が立ち上がる絵画を目指しています。不一致やずれは埋めるべき欠落ではなく、世界を見つめ直し、他者との新たな接続を生み出す可能性であると考えています。

I create my paintings whilst reflecting on how I perceive the world, taking as my starting point images and words that have been framed by others. I believe that much of what we encounter in our daily lives—such as social media, films, manga and advertisements—consists of fragments that have been filtered through someone else’s perspective or edited. I collect these fragments and, through a process of layering drawings, reconstruct images that once existed in different places and times to create my paintings.
In recent years, I have been particularly interested in film subtitles. Subtitles translate complex experiences—such as visuals, sound, the actors’ physicality and cultural context—into a limited number of words; in this process, there inevitably arise elements that cannot be fully rendered in words, as well as gaps. I view this discrepancy not as a loss, but as an opportunity for new imagination and interpretation. The images and words born from subtitles are rearranged through the process of drawing and ultimately developed into a single painting.
Although we may feel we are perceiving the world directly, in reality we connect with it through fragments filtered by someone else’s perspective or interpretation. Using such discrepancies and shifts as clues, I aim to gradually open up fixed ways of seeing, creating paintings from which new narratives and relationships emerge from the viewer’s own experiences and memories. I believe that these discrepancies and shifts are not gaps to be filled, but rather opportunities to re-examine the world and forge new connections with others.
