京都を拠点に活動するグラフィックデザイナー／グラフィックアーティスト。大学卒業後、OMD名義でクライアントワークと並行しながら、自身の表現活動を展開している。初期は図形や文字、コンポジションを主軸にしたグラフィック作品やZINE制作を行い、2018年以降は3DCGを用いたグラフィック／アートワークへと表現領域を拡張。

グラフィックデザインとグラフィックアートを往復する思考をテーマに、視覚伝達と造形表現のあいだを横断しながら、独自の視覚言語を探求している。作品制作では、マルセル・デュシャンのレディメイドの思想を背景に、既製品や日用品を機能や意味から切り離し、純粋なフォルムとして再解釈することを試みる。ボウリングピン、花瓶、石、トロフィー、テニスボール、プラスチックカップなど、一見無関係なオブジェクトを組み合わせることで、新たな形態やバランス、質感を持つ静物を構築する。そのプロセスは、日常に潜む見慣れた物の価値や関係性を更新し、鑑賞者の認識を揺さぶる試みでもある。またシュルレアリスムの影響を受けながら、現実と非現実の境界を曖昧にする構造や関係性を生み出し、デジタル空間だからこそ可能な物理法則を超えた構成によって、新しい静物画の可能性を提示している。近作では、その思考をデジタル空間に留めず、現実空間へと拡張し、既製品を用いた立体作品の制作にも取り組んでいる。

Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1987
Graduated from the Department of Information Design, Kyoto University of the Arts in 2010

A graphic designer and graphic artist based in Kyoto. Since graduating from university, he has been pursuing his own creative work under the name OMD, alongside client commissions. In his early years, he produced graphic works and zines centred on shapes, typography and composition; since 2018, he has expanded his creative scope to include graphic and art works utilising 3DCG.

With a focus on a mode of thinking that moves back and forth between graphic design and graphic art, the artist explores a unique visual language whilst traversing the boundaries between visual communication and sculptural expression. In their practice, drawing on Marcel Duchamp’s concept of the readymade, the artist attempts to detach mass-produced items and everyday objects from their functions and meanings, reinterpreting them as pure forms. By combining seemingly unrelated objects—such as bowling pins, vases, stones, trophies, tennis balls and plastic cups—he constructs still lifes with new forms, balances and textures. This process is also an attempt to renew the value and relationships of familiar objects hidden within everyday life, thereby challenging the viewer’s perceptions. Furthermore, whilst drawing on the influence of Surrealism, the artist creates structures and relationships that blur the boundary between reality and unreality. Through compositions that transcend the laws of physics—made possible precisely by the digital space—the artist presents new possibilities for still life painting. In recent works, the artist has extended this line of thinking beyond the digital realm into the physical world, and is now also engaged in the creation of three-dimensional works using ready-made objects.
