数ある日本の伝統工藝の中でも、植物由来の装飾でシルクのような艶と輝きを持つことが特徴である『麦わら細工』について研究している。
麦わらを桐箱などの木工に貼り付けて、光り輝くようにみせる伝統工芸はおそらく他にはないだろう。
毎日の生活の中で、麦わらに触れることは少ない。しかし、麦という植物は私たち人間の食生活の中心と言っても過言ではない。当たり前に存在する麦なのに、わらになると目にする機会がほとんどない。
麦わらそのものが持つ美しさを、知るものは少ない。だからこそ、身近にあるのに、存在しないかのように扱われる美しいものに再度焦点を当てた。

Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 2001. Completed the Master’s programme in Fine Arts, specialising in Sculpture and Three-dimensional Art within the Crafts field, at Kyoto University of the Arts in 2026.

Among the many traditional Japanese crafts, I am conducting research into ‘wheat straw craft’, which is characterised by its plant-derived decorations and a lustre and sheen reminiscent of silk.
There is probably no other traditional craft in which wheat straw is applied to wooden objects, such as paulownia boxes, to make them appear to shimmer.
We rarely come into contact with wheat straw in our daily lives. Yet it is no exaggeration to say that the wheat plant lies at the heart of our diet. Although wheat is a commonplace part of our lives, we hardly ever see it in the form of straw.
Few people are aware of the inherent beauty of wheat straw itself. That is precisely why I have chosen to refocus attention on this beautiful material—one that, despite being so close at hand, is treated as if it did not exist.
