御村紗也は1997年三重県生まれ。2022年京都芸術大学大学院芸術研究科芸術専攻修士課程修了。日差しによって生まれる影の移ろい、風に揺れる木々のざわめき、肌で感じる温度や空気の香りー日常のなかに立ち現れる刹那的な時間や情景を主題に絵画制作を行っている。

作家の琴線に触れた対象をドローイングや写真として一度記録し、それらをシルクスクリーンへと変換したうえで、ペインティングの技法やコーティングを重ね合わせながらキャンバス上で独自の画面を構築する。線や色彩のレイヤー、絵肌をもって、空間に存在していた視覚的には捉えられない対象をも描く試みは、二度と遭遇することが叶わないであろう光景や感情を反芻することで、その所在に辿り着こうとする行為といえる。複数のメディアや制作工程を往還することで、記憶や感覚の断片が交錯する多層的な時間を内包した絵画空間を生み出している。リズミカルな描線、色彩を丁寧に重ねた作品からは泡沫の触れられない存在を少しでも掴もうとする作家の意思を感じる。

Saya Omura was born in Mie Prefecture in 1997. She completed her Master’s degree in Fine Art at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Kyoto University of the Arts, in 2022. Her paintings explore fleeting moments and scenes that emerge in everyday life—such as the shifting shadows cast by sunlight, the rustling of trees swaying in the wind, and the temperature and scent of the air felt on the skin.

The artist first records subjects that strike a chord with her through drawings or photographs; she then transforms these into silkscreen prints, before constructing a unique visual composition on canvas by layering painting techniques and coatings. This attempt to depict subjects that existed in space but could not be visually captured—through layers of line and colour, and the texture of the painting—can be described as an act of trying to trace their whereabouts by ruminating on scenes and emotions that one is unlikely ever to encounter again. By moving back and forth between multiple media and production processes, the artist creates a pictorial space that encompasses a multi-layered sense of time in which fragments of memory and sensation intersect. In these works, characterised by rhythmic lines and carefully layered colours, one senses the artist’s determination to grasp, even if only slightly, the intangible, ephemeral nature of existence.
